When you get your leg fractured, you immediately go see a doctor, right? Is it not because the broken bone hinders your leg from functioning normally and that the pain caused by it causes you significant distress? ‘
Then why is it that when the same amount of disability and distressed is caused by a problem in the mind, that people ignore it and consider it as untreatable?
The mind is much more complex and unexplored than the body, however, when a mental illness occurs, there are certain behavioral changes that occur. These signs and symptoms are noticeable and can help mental health professionals diagnose and thereon treat a patient successfully.
It is the endeavor of the Department of Mental Health Education to spread awareness on mental health and impress upon people that there is nothing wrong seeking help for Mental illnesses.
